KEY COMPETENCIES

Negotiation Skills:
Ability to work within the structure of large organisations to effect change and develop new businesses and products. Well versed in top-level presentations, and sensitive to overall corporate goal issues and agendas.

Financial Product Knowledge and Experience:
Highly experienced in all aspects of project and infrastructure structuring and financing including advice and arranging of debt and private equity. Good working knowledge of corporate lending, debt derivatives, private equity and the full range of debt products.

Industry Knowledge:
Good working knowledge of infrastructure (toll roads, airports, social PPPs, electricity and gas), mining and resources (coal, iron ore, mineral sands, gold, base metals) and financial services (all forms of lending).

CAREER SUMMARY

Initial degrees, including PhD in geology, followed by extensive work in USA, progressing to financial evaluation of mining industry acquisition targets. Returned to Australia in 1986 and joined Westpac’s project finance team. Started, built and successfully ran the project finance team at NatWest Australia, followed by three years based in New York running the debt markets area of NatWest. After two years in London assisting the dismantling of NatWest Markets and gaining experience in private equity and advice, returned to Australia to start National Australia Bank’s project advisory team. Later spent six years with Moody’s Investors Service as Senior Analyst specialising in infrastructure: airports, power and toll roads. Also responsible for major Australian and New Zealand corporates – Qantas, Air New Zealand, Mighty River Power, Babcock & Brown Infrastructure, and AWB. In May 2008, started Kanangra Ratings Advisory Services to focus on advising corporates on relations with rating agencies.
